► Offshore compact cranes
Add local lifting capacity exactly where your offshore work happens.
Offshore projects lose valuable time when local work depends on large vessel cranes, separate access equipment, or temporary rigging.
The C-SPIDER compact crawler crane relieves the main crane, eliminates bottlenecks, and enables your team to execute tasks locally and in parallel.
Less waiting. More parallel work.
While saving deck space is an advantage, the real value of the C-SPIDER fleet lies in operational speed and local flexibility.
By positioning a compact crane directly in the work area, you gain:
► Main Crane Relief: Keep your critical, high-capacity crane available for the heavy lifts, while the C-SPIDER handles repetitive local lifts.
► Smarter Handling: Improve safety by working closer to the load, reducing the risks and swing associated with long-distance vessel-to-asset lifts.
► Combined Access & Lifting: Deploy the C-SPIDER with a certified manbasket to combine lifting and personnel access in one compact machine.
Four ways C-SPIDER improves offshore project efficiency
►Main Crane Relief AND Local Lifting
Perfect for Jack-Ups, CLVs, PLVs, and HLVs. Position the C-SPIDER close to the work front to move tools, rigging, and components without holding up the main vessel crane.
►hoisting, access and decom on crane limited assets
Prepare, release, cut, lift and handle components on ageing assets or platforms before the main removal campaign starts. With hydraulic functions available at the boom tip, C-SPIDER can support tools such as grabs, saws or cutters for combined tooling and local handling.
►Temporary Vessel Upgrades
Turn a simple PSV, multicat, or barge into a highly capable offshore work platform. Add temporary lifting and manriding capability to your deck without the need for expensive, permanent vessel modifications or a dedicated crane vessel.
►Maintenance and Brownfield Support
Execute valve replacements, equipment swap-outs, and structural modifications in highly congested areas. Currently in development: ATEX-capable configurations for hazardous Oil & Gas environments.

Frequently asked questions
1. What are the primary applications for an offshore spider crane?
Offshore spider cranes are designed for controlled local lifting, asset-based work, and parallel operations. They allow teams to execute lifts directly on platforms, transition pieces, or vessels close to the actual work area. This includes handling tools and cables, supporting decommissioning, platform maintenance, and providing local access via certified manbaskets without relying on the main vessel crane.
2. What is the difference between an offshore compact crane and a standard spider crane?
C-SPIDER is not a standard onshore spider crane placed offshore. It is a compact offshore crane solution designed for marine project conditions, with offshore load chart options, corrosion protection, remote control, manbasket access and project support for offshore lifting, access and handling work.
3. Can C-SPIDER cranes support Marine Warranty Surveyor review?
Yes. We provide project documentation to support the MWS review process. This can include offshore load charts, structural engineering input, deck load information, risk analysis input and method statements. Our preparation helps your team and the MWS assess the crane setup efficiently for the specific project.
4. Do you offer bare rental or only operated crane hire?
We offer both. You can opt for a bare rental if you have your own qualified crew, or rent the crane including a certified Stage 3 offshore crane driver. To ensure maximum uptime, we provide critical spare parts, comprehensive maintenance training for your operators, and 24/7 service support, alongside all necessary technical documentation, load charts, and mobilization assistance.
5. How do compact crawler cranes handle dynamic vessel motions at sea?
When operating from a floating vessel, C-SPIDER can be supplied with offshore load charts that take vessel motions and project conditions into account. Depending on the scope, we can also provide practical sea fastening solutions to secure the crane during transport, mobilization and offshore operation. For certain projects, C-SPIDER can also be positioned directly on a fixed asset, platform or jack up, reducing relative motion and allowing local lifting and access close to the work area.
6. Can the C-Spider fleet be used for certified manriding operations?
Yes, specific models within our fleet, such as the C-Spider MC15, can be configured for delicate manriding operations. It is certified for both setups: as a fixed cherry picker with an attached manbasket, and for manriding on a wire. This versatility ensures safe, direct access for personnel performing inspections or maintenance in highly restricted areas, depending on your project’s specific safety requirements.
7. What support is included with C-SPIDER rental?
C-SPIDER can be supplied with operator support, spare parts, maintenance support and 24/7 technical backup. We also provide the relevant crane documentation, load chart information and mobilization support needed to help your team integrate the crane into the offshore project.
8. How much deck space do these cranes save compared to conventional lifting gear?
While a C-SPIDER operates on a minimal footprint compared to a traditional bulky crawler crane, the main advantage is operational flexibility. Because they are compact and lightweight, they can be positioned in tight corners or directly on top of structures. This saves valuable deck space for other critical project equipment and cargo.
9. What is the typical mobilization time for a compact offshore crane?
Mobilization timelines depend on the specific project requirements, engineering documentation, and crane availability. Because our fleet is tightly managed and maintained with modern, low-hour machines, we can respond quickly to your project timeline. Contact our team directly to discuss the exact logistics for your upcoming project.
10. Can C-SPIDER support offshore brownfield modifications?
Yes. While they don’t handle heavy lifts, C-Spiders are perfect for transition piece modifications, manriding for Vertical Injector (VI) adjustments, and handling lightweight tooling. Their compact footprint makes them ideal for these precise, small-scale tasks in tight spaces where massive cranes can’t fit.
